There are many wonderful resources for educators to help teach ideas forest education.  See a list of examples from New South Wales.

Pre-school

  • Forest Fun Colouring Book. This free colouring book about forests appeals to three to six year old children and features cartoon characters Serge, Kim, Flo and Scribbly.

Primary

Secondary

  • Forests facts – NSW worksheet series.  Ready to use activity sheets for secondary students. Topics include rainforests, wood, greenhouse, forestry and timber harvesting.
  • Forest poster series - download this series of five posters for an introduction to softwoods, hardwoods, heartwood, sapwood and key NSW timber species.
  • In the Living Forest - This book is a contemporary reference for those interested in the latest news in forest management and industry developments. A number of the articles have been reviewed by the Curriculum K-12 Directorate of the NSW Department of Education and Training and mapped to the Industrial Technology stage 5 and stage 6 syllabuses.
  • The Bush Telegraph - The Bush Telegraph is a quarterly full-colour magazine produced by Forests NSW, a public trading enterprise within NSW Department of Primary Industries. It contains features and articles about forestry, wildlife and environmental matters. It also includes information on events, and a section called 'Forest school' for primary-school-age children.
  • Forests NSW Social, Environmental and Economic (Seeing) Report - The report details the organisation’s performance across a range of social, environmental, economic and sustainability indicators, highlighting trends and key achievements for the year.
