There are a number of excellent forest education programs in all states and territories of Australia.  See the list below for further information.

National programs

  • CSIRO education - science programs and resources for schools, special events around Australia and a great range of at-home science for all ages.
  • Landcare Australia – junior Landcare and youth in Landcare programs.
  • Timber Trek – includes the Forest Manager Game.

New South Wales

Northern Territory

  • Junior Ranger Program – a range of educational programs to all sectors of the community to promote positive visitor behaviour to current and future park users.

Queensland

  • Better Forests - Educational materials for teachers and young people that highlight the valuable contribution the forestry industry makes to the state’s economy, environment and community.
  • Education Queensland – Toohey Forest Environmental Education Centre.

South Australia

  • Forestry Matters – Comprehensive resource designed to promote forest awareness from a uniquely South Australian perspective.
  • Parks Education Program – Educational resources to encourage South Australians to explore and learn about the natural environment by visiting the State's network of parks.

  • EcoEducation programs - a variety of products and services designed to foster awareness, appreciation and understanding of the natural environment.
  • Forest Heritage Centre – The Forest Heritage Centre at Dwellingup offers a wide range of educational tours to suit all year levels.

International

  • Forest Education Initiative (United Kingdom) – provides learning resources about trees, forests and forest products.
  • Forests of Life Program (New Zealand) - an inquiry-based program in which students collectively or individually undertake their own research into forest science.
  • Project learning Tree (USA) - provide the tools educators need to bring the environment into the classroom - topics range from forests, wildlife, and water, to community planning, waste management and energy. 
  • World Forestry Centre – Founded in 1964 in Portland, Oregon, the World Forestry Centre is a non-profit educational institution whose  mission is to educate and inform people about the world's forests and trees, and their importance to all life, in order to promote a balanced and sustainable future.
